Zolemectin Oral Suspension is an anti-worm medicine used to treat roundworm and tapeworm infections in children.
Oral Suspension
Zolemectin Oral Suspension is an anti-worm medicine given to treat a multitude of parasitic worm infestations such as roundworm and tapeworm infections in children. It works by paralyzing and restraining the worms from absorbing the body's energy, leading to their eventual death.
Do not share your child's medicines with others and do not give anyone else's medicine to your child. Worm infections are easily spread between family members. Your doctor may recommend treatment for all family members on the same day, whether or not they have any symptoms of infection.
Zolemectin Oral Suspension is a mixture of two medicines: Ivermectin and Albendazole. Ivermectin works by binding to the muscle and nerve cells of worms, causing their paralysis and death. Albendazole works by keeping the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), thereby depleting their energy level. This causes the worms to die, thereby treating your child's infection effectively.
Do not give raw or undercooked food to your child. Always give a balanced diet containing herbs, fruits, and spices of therapeutic value. Encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water every time they use the toilet as that will help prevent cross-infection. Trim your child's nails frequently to disable any source of worm infection. Maintain a neat space and hygiene around your child. Call your child's doctor right away if the child exhibits signs of allergic reaction like rash, itching, or any other sign of infection such as fever, gum-bleeding, black or red stools, and blood in urine or vomit.
Signs your child might have intestinal worms include: persistent stomach pain accompanied by loss of appetite or frequent indigestion, an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, restless sleep due to anal itching. If you observe pica in your child - eating inedible substances like mud - it could indicate a worm infection. It's crucial to contact the doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of these symptoms. The doctor may recommend collecting stool and blood samples for examination. Based on these reports, they will determine treatment with appropriate medication for your child.
Zolemectin Oral Suspension can be given at any time of day. It's best to administer it with a fat-containing food like milk.
Intestinal worm infections are commonly caused by soil contaminated with worm eggs, especially in areas with poor sanitation. It can also occur from playing in contaminated soil, drinking contaminated water, or eating vegetables and fruits without washing or peeling.
Store Zolemectin Oral Suspension at room temperature in a cool, dry place, away from reach of children and pets to avoid any accidental intake. Do not freeze the medicine.
Contact your child's doctor immediately if your child experiences vision problems, swollen eyes, severe itching all over their body, difficulty walking or standing, trouble breathing, fast heart rate. You should also contact the doctor if your child becomes disoriented or confused after taking Zolemectin Oral Suspension, exhibits loss of bowel control, or complains of neck pain.
