Frequently asked questions
What is Zocon 1% Soap used for?
Zocon 1% Soap is an antifungal medication. It is used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm (a fungal infection causing a red scaly rash on various body parts), athlete's foot (fungal infection of the feet and between the toes), fungal nappy rash, and fungal sweat rash. It is also used for relieving irritation of the vulva (external thrush) and irritation occurring at the end of the penis, which may be associated with thrush.
What types of fungi does Zocon 1% Soap treat?
Zocon 1% Soap is effective against Trichophyton species, which cause ringworm infection, athlete's foot, and jock itch (fungal infection of the skin in the groin or buttocks). It is also effective against yeast known as Candida, commonly causing vaginal thrush (infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast called Candida albicans).
When can I expect to see improvements after starting Zocon 1% Soap?
The symptoms of skin infections, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment. However, the signs like redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. Do not stop applying this medicine before the duration advised by your doctor even if you feel better.
What precautions are necessary while applying Zocon 1% Soap?
Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying Zocon 1% Soap. If using the cream for an infected foot, wash and dry your feet thoroughly before applying the cream, especially between the toes, before applying the cream. Zocon 1% Soap should be applied thinly and evenly and rubbed gently onto the affected areas two or three times daily.
How long should I apply Zocon 1% Soap? Can I stop if the symptoms completely disappear?
The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection. In general, the treatment is continued for one month for tinea infection and at least 15 days for Candida infection. Do not stop the treatment on your own even if you feel better because the infection may come back as it takes time to kill the fungus.
Is Zocon 1% Soap safe for use in children?
Zocon 1% Soap is safe for children only if used as directed by a doctor. The correct dose should be given only for the prescribed duration of time and minor side effects may occur, but they are usually not bothersome. If you experience burning sensations, redness, or severe itching while using this medication, contact your doctor immediately.
What measures can help accelerate recovery from fungal skin infections?
Keep the affected skin areas clean and dry, avoiding excessive rubbing. You may have an urge to scratch due to itchiness but avoid it as this will damage the skin surface and lead to further infection spreading.
Does Zocon 1% Soap affect contraceptive methods?
Zocon 1% Soap might decrease the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives like diaphragms and condoms. If using the cream on the vulva or penis, it's advisable to use alternative contraception methods for at least five days after applying Zocon 1% Soap.
