Zobra Eye Ointment is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This treats your eye infection.
Your doctor has prescribed Zobra Eye Ointment to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Zobra Eye Ointment may cause damage to cornea on long-term use. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
Zobra Eye Ointment is effective against a variety of bacteria. It should only be used against susceptible bacteria. The bacteria that can be killed by Zobra Eye Ointment include Staphylococcus aureus and S. epidermidis, some species of Streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Morganella morganii, most Proteus vulgaris strains, Haemophilus influenza, and H. aegyptius, Moraxella lacunata, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, and some Neisseria species. Your doctor will evaluate whether this medicine is suitable for your condition.
The doctor will decide the duration of treatment based on the severity of the infection. For mild to moderate eye infections, your doctor might advise using 1-2 drops four times a day for a short period of time. In severe infections, you may be prescribed 2 drops every hour. Please note that it is crucial to use exactly as directed by your doctor and avoid more or less than prescribed.
Before applying the eye ointment, wash your hands thoroughly. Avoid touching the dropper tip against your eye or any other surface. Tilt your head slightly and place one drop into the affected eye. Close your eyes for at least 2-3 minutes with your head down, avoiding blinking or squinting. For best results, gently press your finger to the inside corner of your eye for approximately 1 minute to prevent liquid from draining into your tear duct. If you are using more than one drop, wait about five minutes before placing the next drop. Make sure to wait at least ten minutes before applying any other prescribed eye drops.
If you do not experience improvement after completing your full course of treatment, notify your doctor immediately. Additionally, inform the doctor about any worsening symptoms that occur while using this medication.
No, do not stop taking Zobra Eye Ointment without first consulting your doctor, even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Therefore, for a complete treatment, it is important to continue taking this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
