Frequently asked questions
What is Zincobal 500mcg Injection?
Zincobal 500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient that plays vital roles in red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also contributes to energy release from food and works alongside vitamin B11 (folic acid) for optimal function.
Why can't I get sufficient Vitamin B12 in my diet?
While dietary sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products offer natural sources of vitamin B12, vegetarian or vegan diets often lack this vital nutrient. Vegetarians and vegans may experience a deficiency unless supplements are incorporated into their diets.
What happens if I have Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest as tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal red blood cell size). It may also lead to neurological symptoms such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other potential symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, impaired memory, and sore mouth or tongue.
Is Zincobal 500mcg Injection safe?
Zincobal 500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If a rash occurs, discontinue use of the medication immediately.
How should Zincobal 500mcg Injection be administered?
Zincobal 500mcg Injection can be injected either into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The standard dosage is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Zincobal 500mcg Injection), given three times weekly. Following two months, the dose is adjusted to one ampoule (0.5 mg of Zincobal 500mcg Injection) every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Zincobal 500mcg Injection?
Always avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain during injection or blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
