Azilsartan medoxomil (80mg)
Zilsmart 80 Tablet is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.
Tablet
Zilsmart 80 Tablet can be prescribed either alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food during the day or at night. However, try to take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It is important to continue taking it regularly even if you feel well or if your blood pressure is controlled. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This is a widely used medicine and is considered safe for long-term use.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zilsmart 80 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Zilsmart 80 Tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes the blood vessel by blocking the action of a chemical that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for a long time. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen along with this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not take Zilsmart 80 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor.
Zilsmart 80 Tablet and telmisartan are both blood pressure-lowering medicines. Zilsmart 80 Tablet has been found to be as effective as telmisartan in lowering blood pressure, with fewer side effects.
Take Zilsmart 80 Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. It is for oral use and is usually taken once a day, with plenty of water, with or without food, at the same time every day.
Do not stop taking Zilsmart 80 Tablet without speaking to your doctor, even if you are feeling well or your blood pressure is controlled. Stopping it suddenly may increase your blood pressure which may increase your risk of stroke.
Zilsmart 80 Tablet may take about 2 weeks to show a visible reduction in blood pressure, with full benefits taking a little longer, about 4 weeks.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Zilsmart 80 Tablet may decrease your blood pressure due to which you may feel dizzy or may even faint. Consult your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical aid in a nearby hospital.
Zilsmart 80 Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AIIRAs), which block the effect of angiotensin II, a substance that tightens blood vessels and increases blood pressure.
This medicine can cause harm or death to your unborn baby. If you are planning a pregnancy or have become pregnant, consult your doctor right away, who may switch you to a different medicine to treat your high blood pressure.
You should not take Zilsmart 80 Tablet if you are allergic to it or if you are pregnant. Avoid its use if you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and are being treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
