Frequently asked questions
What is Zemith 1500 Injection?
Zemith 1500 Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food, utilizing vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is often obtained from animal sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may find it difficult to obtain Vitamin B12 naturally because the nutrient is not found in fruits, vegetables, or grains. Therefore, individuals following a vegetarian or vegan diet are more prone to vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also cause nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, memory impairment, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Zemith 1500 Injection safe?
Zemith 1500 Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and rash may occur. If a rash appears, stop taking this medication immediately.
How should Zemith 1500 Injection be given?
Zemith 1500 Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Zemith 1500 Injection) and is given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Zemith 1500 Injection) is given every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Zemith 1500 Injection?
Avoid injecting Zemith 1500 Injection at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
