How it works
ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup?
ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Always inform your child's healthcare provider about all other medications they are taking before starting this medication. Consult with your child’s doctor regarding the administration of any new medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children after vaccination. However, it's best to avoid giving any medication to a child until they have fully recovered from the illness if an antibiotic is prescribed. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, during prolonged therapy with this medication, a doctor might monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage above the recommended amount for this medication can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences an exacerbation of symptoms, consult their doctor before re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless you have completed the prescribed course. Even if you perceive improvement in your child's condition, continue treatment for the full duration as there may be ongoing benefits.
Can the use of ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, ZE-Mentin CV Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. This is due to its antibiotic properties, which target harmful bacteria and also affect helpful bacteria in your child's digestive tract, leading to this symptom. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if experiencing diarrhea. Consult your doctor immediately if symptoms persist or you observe signs of dehydration (reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Avoid administering any other medications without consulting a physician.

Most commonly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. In fact, giving antibiotics in viral infections can increase the risk of side effects. This is why it's essential to seek your child's doctor's advice before administering antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is this a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily require antibiotic treatment. During a common cold, it's normal for mucus to thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. Most symptoms resolve within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
It's crucial to seek immediate medical care if your child experiences signs of a serious allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While these are rare side effects that require expert intervention.
