Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, watery eyes, sore throat, body ache, and fever. These symptoms are usually associated with common cold, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), and other respiratory tract conditions.
Ensure your child takes extra care when taking part in physical activities. Never combine Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup with other cold and flu medicines as that may lead to side effects. Stop Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup and immediately report to the doctor if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties.
Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Phenylephrine, Paracetamol, and Sodium Citrate. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic that relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and an antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) making it easier to cough out.
Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup may make your child feel sleepy. Practice self-care tips: Clean and disinfect surfaces after sneezing and coughing to avoid allergy. Give your child plenty of fluids as it helps to thin and loosen the mucus accumulated in the lungs. Restrain your child from having caffeinated products and foods that are spicy and fried. All these can trigger coughing. Make your child gargle with warm saltwater. Ensure your child takes enough rest.
Prolonged or excessive intake of Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup can put your child at risk of developing serious side effects, including seizures, rapid heart rate, depression, cognition defects, and inability to concentrate. Always adhere to the prescribed dose. To ensure accurate dosing, use the calibrated cup provided with the medicine by the manufacturer. Never use a kitchen teaspoon, as it may not provide the correct measurement.
Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup may interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your child's doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
If your child has a pre-existing condition such as Cardiovascular disease (hypertension, heart disease), Diabetes mellitus, GI obstruction, increased intraocular pressure, urinary obstruction, or thyroid dysfunction, it is recommended to avoid giving Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup. Always inform your child's doctor about their medical history before administering Yuvikuff-Cold Syrup.
Never give your child medicines intended for adult use. Children should only receive medicines specifically formulated for them, as using adult medications can cause unwanted side effects. Always check the label of the medicine before administering it to your child. If your child's symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment, it is best to consult with their doctor.
