Key Information

Short Description

Ymox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Dry Syrup

Introduction

Ymox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.

Safety Information

Side Effects

Bitter taste in the mouth Diarrhea Itchy rash Facial swelling Breathing difficulty

How it works

Ymox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Ymox CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Ymox CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Ymox CV Dry Syrup to your child.

Frequently asked questions

Can other medicines be taken simultaneously with Ymox CV Dry Syrup?

Ymox CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Always inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting Ymox CV Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult a medical professional regarding the administration of any medication to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ymox CV Dry Syrup?

Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the components of vaccines or cause negative reactions in children who have recently received vaccinations. However, it's recommended to avoid vaccination until a child is fully recovered from an illness unless advised by their doctor.

What lab tests might be required during long-term Ymox CV Dry Syrup treatment?

Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function may be necessary under prolonged therapy. These tests are part of routine checkups to ensure your child's well-being.

Can I give a higher dose of Ymox CV Dry Syrup to my child?

It is not recommended to exceed the recommended dosage of Ymox CV Dry Syrup. Overdosing may increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, consult your doctor for a reassessment.

When should I stop giving Ymox CV Dry Syrup to my child?

Do not discontinue this medication before completing the full course as prescribed by your child's doctor. Symptoms may improve before complete infection clearance, so continued treatment is necessary.

Can Ymox CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in children?

Yes, Ymox CV Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea, as it is an antibiotic that kills bacteria. Additionally, the medicine can affect the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and lead to diarrhoea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to consume adequate fluids like water or juice. Consult a doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice signs of dehydration such as decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine. Do not administer any other medication without consulting a healthcare professional.

Do all common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?

Typically, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. In fact, using antibiotics during a viral infection could increase your child's risk of experiencing side effects. Therefore, only use antibiotics after consulting with your doctor.

Is there any indication of a possible bacterial infection in my child's symptoms?

A yellow or green mucus discharge from the nose is not necessarily indicative of a bacterial infection. It's normal for mucus to thicken during a common cold and change its color. Symptoms usually resolve within 7-10 days.

What are the signs that require immediate medical attention?

Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rash), gastrointestinal distress (severe diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These serious side effects require expert intervention.
