Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops is a medicine that helps clear and soothes the blocked nose, thereby relieving nasal congestion due to common cold, hay fever, or other respiratory allergies in children.
Nasal Drops
Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops is a nasal decongestant that helps in opening up the nasal passages by reducing excessive nasal secretions and also reducing the swelling in the blood vessels in the inner surface of the nose. This provides temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
Do check the medicine's 'expiry' date before using it. Do not give more than the recommended dose as it can lead to side effects. Do not use it more than 3 times a day. Prolonged use and abrupt stoppage of Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops can lead to complications. Follow the doctor's prescription carefully. One container of Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops should only be used only by one person. This is to avoid spreading infection from one person to another. Encourage your child to inhale the steam as it may help relieve symptoms.
No common side effects listed.

Do not administer Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops for more than 10 consecutive days as it may lead to complications such as "atrophic rhinitis". Additionally, do not abruptly stop using the medicine as this can cause "rebound congestion" in your child. It is crucial to follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
An overdose of Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops can lead to severe dizziness, perspiration, a low body temperature, headache, bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypertension (high blood pressure), respiratory depression (difficulty breathing), coma, and convulsions. Furthermore, children are more sensitive to toxicity than adults. Therefore, it is recommended that you seek immediate medical attention from your child's doctor if this occurs.
Before administering Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops, ask your child to clear their nose by gently blowing. Then, have your child lie down and look upwards. Tilt their head back as far as comfortable or if lying on a bed, keep the head over the side. Open the cap of the medicine container and without touching the nozzle to the nose, apply the medication into each nostril. Allow the drops to spread throughout the nose by keeping the head tilted back for a short time. Replace the cap immediately after use. If the drop misses the nose completely, administer it again. If any part of the drop enters the nose, do not administer another dose. Repeat for the other nostril. Before applying the next dose, make sure to clean and dry the nozzle. Only one person should use this bottle to avoid spreading infection.
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience symptoms such as insomnia, dizziness, tremor, an irregular heartbeat, or high blood pressure after using Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops.
It's important to inform your child’s doctor about any other medications or substances your child is taking before starting Xylomectin-P Nasal Drops. Consulting with your child's doctor before administering any medicine is recommended.
To allow mucus drainage, have your child lie on their back with a pillow under their head. Avoid sleeping on the side since this may increase congestion in one or both nostrils.
