Introduction
Wyclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Wyclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can Wyclav Dry Syrup be taken with other medications?
Yes, Wyclav Dry Syrup can interact with other medications. Inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting treatment. Additionally, consult the doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Can my child receive vaccinations while on treatment with Wyclav Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics like Wyclav Dry Syrup do not typically interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have just been vaccinated. However, it is recommended that children taking antibiotics wait until they recover from the illness before getting vaccinated.
What lab tests may be necessary for my child while on long-term treatment with Wyclav Dry Syrup?
During prolonged therapy, the doctor may monitor kidney and liver function tests periodically to assess your child's condition.
Can I give my child a higher dose of Wyclav Dry Syrup than recommended?
No, taking more Wyclav Dry Syrup than prescribed can increase the risk of side effects. If you experience increased severity of symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Should I stop giving Wyclav Dry Syrup to my child when their symptoms improve?
No, do not discontinue treatment with Wyclav Dry Syrup unless the full course is complete, even if symptoms improve. The infection may still be active, and continued treatment can help ensure its resolution.
Can Wyclav Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Wyclav Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea due to its antibiotic properties, which can disrupt beneficial bacteria in the stomach. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or indicate dehydration.
Do all viral colds result in secondary bacterial infections?
No, most viral infections do not lead to bacterial infections. Using antibiotics without consulting a doctor can increase the risk of side effects. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting with your child's healthcare provider.
What does yellow or green mucus in my child's nose indicate?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose is a normal symptom during a common cold, and antibiotics are not typically necessary. Symptoms usually resolve on their own within 7-10 days.
When should I seek immediate medical attention for my child?
If your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), contact the doctor immediately. These side effects are rare but require prompt medical attention.
