Metformin (500mg) + Vildagliptin (50mg)
Vylda-M 500 Tablet is a combination of two medicines that control high blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Tablet
Vylda-M 500 Tablet can be prescribed alone or together with other diabetes medications. All diabetes medicines work best when used along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. The dose you are given will depend on your condition, blood sugar levels, and what other medicines you are taking.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Vylda-M 500 Tablet is to be taken with food.
Vylda-M 500 Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines:
You have been prescribed this combination medicine as it can control blood sugar better than metformin alone. Take it in addition to regular exercise and healthy diet to lower levels of blood sugar. Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Inform your doctor about your diabetes treatment if you are due to have surgery under a general anaesthetic. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Vylda-M 500 Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis
Vylda-M 500 Tablet generally does not cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) alone. However, it can potentially contribute to hypoglycemia if calorie intake is insufficient or in combination with other medications like insulin or sulphonylurea. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include nausea, headache, irritability, hunger, sweating, dizziness, fast heart rate, and feelings of anxiety or shakiness. These symptoms are more likely to occur if you miss meals, consume alcohol, exercise excessively, or take any other antidiabetic medication concurrently with Vylda-M 500 Tablet. Therefore, regular blood sugar monitoring is crucial. It's advisable to always carry glucose tablets, honey, or fruit juice with you.
Yes, Vylda-M 500 Tablet can potentially cause nausea and vomiting. If you experience vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids in small, frequent sips. Consult your doctor if vomiting persists and notice signs of dehydration like dark-colored urine, a low frequency of urination, or other symptoms of dehydration. Do not take any other medications without consulting your doctor first.
Individuals with known allergies to any of the ingredients or excipients in this medication should avoid using it. The drug is also considered harmful for patients with severe kidney impairment, liver impairment, congestive heart failure, lactic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Store Vylda-M 500 Tablet in its original container or pack, tightly closed. Follow the instructions on the packaging for proper storage. Dispose of unused medication properly and make sure it's inaccessible to pets, children, and other individuals.
Vylda-M 500 Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs: metformin (a biguanide) and vildagliptin. Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and increases insulin sensitivity. Vildagliptin inhibits DPP4, which increases insulin release from the pancreas. This combination is not recommended for individuals under 18 years old.
Yes, the use of Vylda-M 500 Tablet can potentially contribute to lactic acidosis. It's a medical emergency caused by elevated lactic acid levels in the blood and is often referred to as MALA (Metformin-associated lactic acidosis). This side effect is rare but does occur with metformin use. If you have underlying kidney disease, are older in age, or consume large amounts of alcohol, you may be at higher risk. Symptoms include muscle pain, weakness, dizziness, fatigue, cold limbs, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or slow heart rate. If experiencing these symptoms, stop using Vylda-M 500 Tablet and immediately contact your doctor.
Yes, long-term use of Vylda-M 500 Tablet can potentially lead to Vitamin B12 deficiency. It interferes with vitamin B12 absorption in the stomach. Untreated deficiencies can cause anemia and nerve problems.
Vylda-M 500 Tablet is generally considered safe when used according to prescribed dosage and duration, as advised by your doctor. However, you might experience common side effects like nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach upset, headache, nasal congestion, sore throat, respiratory tract infections, or hypoglycemia in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea. Inform your doctor if you experience any persistent issues while using this medication.
