Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Voxlin DS Dry Syrup?
Voxlin DS Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your child's doctor about all medications they are currently taking before starting Voxlin DS Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Voxlin DS Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received vaccinations. However, it's advisable to hold off on giving your child a vaccine until they fully recover from their illness. Once your child recovers, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Voxlin DS Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
During prolonged therapy, a doctor might periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to track your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Voxlin DS Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage beyond the prescribed amount can increase the risk of side effects. In case of heightened symptoms, consult your doctor for reassessment.
Can I stop giving Voxlin DS Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not cease medication unless you have completed the full course of treatment. Even if symptoms improve, it may be crucial to continue the medicine as its beneficial effects might linger.
Can the use of Voxlin DS Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Voxlin DS Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is due to its antibiotic nature, which kills harmful bacteria while also affecting beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach. Encourage them to drink plenty of fluids if experiencing diarrhea. Consult a doctor for persistent diarrhea and signs of dehydration like reduced urine frequency or dark, strong-smelling urine.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most cases of viral infections do not lead to bacterial infections. In most cases, giving antibiotics to a child with a viral infection will only increase the risk of side effects.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green nasal mucus in children does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics. During common colds, mucus tends to thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually resolve within 7 to 10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
In case of severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), seek immediate medical advice from your child's doctor. While rare, these side effects require professional intervention.
