During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Vomi-EZ Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.
Vomi-EZ Oral Solution effectively controls nausea and bouts of vomiting reflex in children undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy sessions. It is fast-acting and starts working within 30 minutes. Practice self-care measures: Give plenty of fluids to your child to avoid dehydration, avoid giving fried and spicy food or heavy meals to your child, and ensure that your child eats slowly and in small proportions.
Vomi-EZ Oral Solution is generally given to prevent vomiting before major surgery or chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It may be prescribed in cases of suspected gastric illness where the doctor wants to see if it can help with nausea. Follow your child's doctor's instructions regarding dosage.
Vomi-EZ Oral Solution is unlikely to cause harm if you give an extra dose by mistake. However, you must still contact your child's doctor immediately. Overdose can lead to serious side effects such as excessive drowsiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms are collectively known as serotonin syndrome. If any of these appear, contact the doctor without delay.
Vomi-EZ Oral Solution should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Vomi-EZ Oral Solution may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Vomi-EZ Oral Solution, tell your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking. Always consult with your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
Call your child’s doctor immediately if your child experiences symptoms of serotonin syndrome such as irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale or blueish skin and eyes, dark urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
It’s important to consult your child's doctor before administering any new medication alongside other medications used for migraines or depression. Combining Vomi-EZ Oral Solution with such drugs may potentially cause serotonin syndrome.
