Key Information

Short Description

Vomease 2mg Oral Drops is a medicine given to children to help treat nausea and vomiting. It is mainly given to treat nausea and vomiting associated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and stomach/intestinal infection.

Introduction

Vomease 2mg Oral Drops may be given before or after meals. To control vomiting caused due to chemotherapy, give this medicine to your child 30 minutes before the procedure. Give it 1 to 2 hours before a radiotherapy session and 1 hour before surgery to prevent your child from vomiting post these procedures. If your child expels out the medicine within 30 minutes of the intake, help your child calm down and repeat the dose. Do not double the dose if it is already time for the next dose.

How it works

During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Vomease 2mg Oral Drops just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Quick Tips

Vomease 2mg Oral Drops effectively controls nausea and bouts of vomiting reflex in children undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy sessions. It is fast-acting and starts working within 30 minutes. Practice self-care measures: Give plenty of fluids to your child to avoid dehydration, Avoid giving fried and spicy food or heavy meals to your child, Ensure that your child eats slowly and in small proportions.

Frequently asked questions

What is Vomease 2mg Oral Drops used for?

Vomease 2mg Oral Drops is typically administered before major surgeries or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. It helps prevent vomiting in children undergoing these procedures. In some cases, your child's doctor may prescribe it for a few days to treat stomach-related vomiting. Always follow the prescribed dosage for best results.

What if my child takes too much Vomease 2mg Oral Drops?

While accidental overdose is unlikely to cause harm, consult your child's doctor immediately. Excessively high doses of Vomease 2mg Oral Drops can lead to serious side effects such as excessive sleepiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures (collectively known as serotonin syndrome). Contact your child's doctor without delay if these symptoms occur.

How should Vomease 2mg Oral Drops be stored?

Store Vomease 2mg Oral Drops at room temperature in a dry, shaded place away from direct heat and sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.

What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Vomease 2mg Oral Drops?

Vomease 2mg Oral Drops should not be administered alongside antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine medication, painkillers, heart medications, or antibiotics like linezolid. Consult your child's doctor for a complete review of their medical history before making any decisions regarding medication combinations.

In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?

Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale and/or yellowed skin and eyes, dark urine, restlessness, and insomnia.

My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Vomease 2mg Oral Drops along with it?

Combining Vomease 2mg Oral Drops with medications used for depression or migraine can lead to serotonin syndrome, so avoid combining these.
