Sodium picosulfate, liquid paraffin, and milk of magnesia which relieves constipation. Sodium picosulfate is a stimulant laxative which increases peristalsis (the wave-like movement of the intestines) to push the stools forward. Liquid paraffin is a lubricant laxative which helps retain water and fat in the stools while milk of magnesia is an osmotic laxative which works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis making the stools soft. Together they make stools easier to pass.

Frequently asked questions
What is Volact Oral Suspension?
Volact Oral Suspension is a combination of three laxatives: sodium picosulfate, liquid paraffin, and milk of magnesia. These ingredients work together to soften stools and encourage bowel movement. Sodium picosulfate stimulates intestinal contractions, while liquid paraffin acts as a lubricant, making the stool easier to pass. Milk of magnesia works by osmosis, drawing water into the intestines to soften the stools.
What are the recommended storage conditions for Volact Oral Suspension?
Store Volact Oral Suspension in its original container or pack, tightly sealed. Refer to the instructions on the label and packaging for specific details on storage and shelf life. Do not share the medicine with others.
Can the use of Volact Oral Suspension cause diarrhea?
Yes, using Volact Oral Suspension can lead to diarrhea. If you experience diarrhea while taking this medication, drink plenty of fluids. If your symptoms persist or if you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination, dark or strong-smelling urine), consult with your doctor immediately. It is important not to take other medications without your doctor's advice.
How long should laxatives be used for?
Laxatives are generally only needed occasionally and for short periods, not as a regular part of your bowel routine. Over-reliance on laxatives can lead to problems. If you experience constipation frequently, speak with your doctor to explore alternative treatments.
Can any type of laxative be used for Crohn’s disease?
It is essential to consult with your healthcare professional before taking any type of laxative if you have Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis. They can provide personalized recommendations based on your individual needs and condition.
