Oral Suspension
Viloflox OR Oral Suspension is given to children to treat the symptoms of acute diarrhea and dysentery caused due to bacterial infections. It kills the diarrhea-causing microorganism, restores the level of water and electrolytes, and reduces the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness.
Use Viloflox OR Oral Suspension together with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement. Give your child plenty of fluids to replenish water and mineral loss.

Viloflox OR Oral Suspension contains three medicines: Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, and Racecadotril. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection. Ornidazole is also an antibiotic that kills other microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine, helping to reduce the amount of fluid lost from the body in diarrhea.

While an extra dose of Viloflox OR Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm, you should immediately contact the doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat). In case you notice any of these side effects, rush your child to their doctor immediately.
Viloflox OR Oral Suspension usually does not enter the central nervous system and lacks the potential to cause serious side effects such as neurotoxicity. However, if given to children under 2 years of age, it may enter the brain due to underdeveloped membranes. Consult your child's doctor before giving Viloflox OR Oral Suspension in such a condition.
Viloflox OR Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Viloflox OR Oral Suspension. Also, consult your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
The use of Viloflox OR Oral Suspension in chronic diarrhea has not been studied extensively. Therefore, it is best to consult your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not be vaccinated until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
