Salt Composition

Fluticasone Furoate (100mcg) + Vilanterol (25mcg)

Key Information

Short Description

Vilmist Capsule is a combination of two medicines that opens the airways and makes it easier to breathe. It is used in the treatment of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lungs is blocked).

Dosage Form

Capsule

Introduction

The effect of Vilmist Capsule may be noticeable after a few days but will only reach its maximum after a few weeks. This medicine must be used regularly for it to show its effect so take it even if you don't have any symptoms. If you stop taking it before the prescribed duration your asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) may worsen. It should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks. If an asthma attack occurs use your quick-relief inhaler (reliever). To get the most benefits from this medicine make sure you get your inhaler technique right; otherwise the medicine won’t work well.

Directions for Use

Use it as advised by your doctor or check the label for directions before use.

How it works

Vilmist Capsule is a combination of fluticasone furoate and vilanterol. Fluticasone furoate works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body which cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies. Vilanterol works by relaxing air passages in the lungs making breathing easier.

Quick Tips

Vilmist Capsule ‘dampens down’ inflammation in the lungs to provide long-term (maintenance) treatment of asthma and prevent disease progression. Learn the correct technique of using metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) to ensure that the right amount of medication reaches your lungs and side effects are minimized. Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to avoid any fungal infections in your mouth and throat. Take it at the same time every day to prevent asthma attacks. Do not open and close the cover unnecessarily as you will lose the medicine. Never breathe out into the mouthpiece. Only minuscule amounts of Vilmist Capsule may get absorbed into the bloodstream after inhalation. Hence serious side effects such as weight gain are unlikely.
