Oral Suspension
Introduction
Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension is an anti-worm medicine given to treat a multitude of parasitic worm infestations such as roundworm and tapeworm infections in children. It works by paralyzing and restraining the worms from absorbing the body's energy, leading to their eventual death.
Directions for Use
Do not share your child's medicines with others and do not give anyone else's medicine to your child. Worm infections are easily spread between family members. Your doctor may recommend treatment for all family members on the same day, whether or not they have any symptoms of infection.
How it works
Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension is a mixture of two medicines: Ivermectin and Albendazole. Ivermectin works by binding to the muscle and nerve cells of worms, causing their paralysis and death. Albendazole works by keeping the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), thereby depleting their energy level. This causes the worms to die, thereby treating your child's infection effectively.
Quick Tips
Do not give raw or undercooked food to your child. Always give a balanced diet containing herbs, fruits, and spices of therapeutic value. Encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water every time they use the toilet as that will help prevent cross-infection. Trim your child's nails frequently to disable any source of worm infection. Maintain a neat space and hygiene around your child. Call your child's doctor right away if the child exhibits signs of allergic reaction like rash, itching, or any other sign of infection such as fever, gum-bleeding, black or red stools, and blood in urine or vomit.

Frequently asked questions
How can I know that my child is having a worm infection?
Your child might have a worm infection if they complain of an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, restless sleep due to anal itching, and persistent stomach pain with loss of appetite or frequent indigestion. Another sign of a worm infection is pica, where your child may notice eating inedible substances such as mud. Talk to your child's doctor immediately if you notice any of these symptoms. The doctor may suggest collecting your child’s stool and blood samples on 3 different days for examination. Depending upon the reports, the doctor will decide on treatment and prescribe the appropriate medication.
What is the best time to give Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension to my child?
Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension can be given at any time of day. Just remember to give it with a fat-containing food such as milk.
How can my child become infected with intestinal worms?
Intestinal worm infections are most common in areas where sanitation is poor, and the soil may be contaminated with worm eggs. Your child might also get infected playing in contaminated soil. When your child returns home after playing outside, ensure they wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water. Contaminated drinking water or eating unwashed vegetables and fruits can also lead to infection.
How should I store my child’s medicine?
Store Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from children and pets to avoid accidental intake. Do not freeze the medicine.
When should I call my child's doctor right away?
Reach out to the doctor immediately if your child complains of vision problems, puffy eyes, severe itching all over the body or experiences trouble walking or standing, trouble breathing, fast heart rate. You should also not neglect if your child feels disoriented or confused, exhibits loss of bowel control, or complains of neck pain soon after taking Vermistar Plus Oral Suspension.
