How it works
Veloclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Veloclav Dry Syrup?
It's essential to inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Veloclav Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult with their doctor before administering any new medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Veloclav Dry Syrup?
Typically, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have just been vaccinated. However, it's recommended to wait until the child has recovered from their illness before getting vaccinated.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Veloclav Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
During prolonged therapy, your child's doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess their condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Veloclav Dry Syrup to my child?
No, administering a higher dose than prescribed can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Veloclav Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue the medicine unless the full treatment course is complete, even if symptoms improve. The infection may still be present and require further treatment.
Can the use of Veloclav Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Veloclav Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea due to its antibacterial properties affecting beneficial bacteria in the stomach. If diarrhea persists, consult with your child's doctor and encourage them to drink plenty of fluids.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Mostly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can increase side effects. Consult with your child's doctor before administering antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics, as this is a common symptom during a viral cold. Symptoms often last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are rare but require expert attention.
