Introduction
Vdoclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments. You can give Vdoclav Dry Syrup to your child with or without food. It is better to give it with food as that helps increase absorption and decrease the risk of stomach upset. The doctor may prescribe giving it two to three times a day. Medicine dose depends on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. So, stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed. If your child vomits the medicine within 30 minutes of intake, let the child calm down and repeat the dose. Do not double dose if it's the time for the next dose.

How it works
Vdoclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Vdoclav Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Vdoclav Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Vdoclav Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check 'expiry' before giving Vdoclav Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Vdoclav Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be taken simultaneously with Vdoclav Dry Syrup?
Vdoclav Dry Syrup can interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about all the medicines they are taking before starting Vdoclav Dry Syrup. It is also essential to consult your child’s healthcare professional before administering any medicine to them.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Vdoclav Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in a child who has recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should avoid getting vaccinated until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests might my child undergo during long-term Vdoclav Dry Syrup treatment?
With prolonged therapy, your doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess your child's overall condition.
Can I give a higher dose than the recommended dosage of Vdoclav Dry Syrup to my child?
No, giving a higher dose of this medication can increase the likelihood of adverse effects. If your child experiences increased severity of symptoms, please consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Vdoclav Dry Syrup to my child once their symptoms improve?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless you are completing the prescribed course of treatment. Even if you see improvement in symptoms, they may continue to be effective as they can still provide benefits.
Can Vdoclav Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Vdoclav Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria and in some cases, it may also affect the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea. If this continues or you notice any signs of dehydration (like less frequent urination with dark-colored, strong-smelling urine), talk to their doctor before giving them any other medicine.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most commonly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. In fact, using antibiotics during a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects. It is essential to consult your child's doctor before administering antibiotics.
Is there any sign that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child’s doctor immediately if they experience severe allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Although rare, these side effects can be serious and require expert treatment.
