Frequently asked questions
What is Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection?
Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 is commonly found in animal products like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians and vegans may find it challenging to obtain enough vitamin B12 because it isn't naturally present in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, vegetarian or vegan diets may increase the risk of a deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to various symptoms like fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also cause nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, impaired memory, sore mouth or tongue.
Is Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection safe?
Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe for most individuals. However, like any medication, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash can occur. If you experience a rash, stop taking the medicine immediately.
How should Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection be given?
Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The typical dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection) and it's given 3 times per week. After 2 months, a single 0.5 mg dose every one to three months may be prescribed as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Vayvit X 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting in the same site on your body each time. If you experience intense pain during injection, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and try injecting at a different site.
