Oral Suspension
Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. This medicine is used to target the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving an extra dose of Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension is unlikely to be harmful. However, immediately contact a doctor if you think your child might have taken more than prescribed. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat). Seek immediate medical attention if you see any of these symptoms in your child.
If your child does not improve despite taking Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension as prescribed, it may indicate that the medicine is ineffective against the bacteria causing the infection. In this case, consult your child’s doctor. They may prescribe another antibiotic with more specific action against the responsible bacteria.
It is crucial to inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension. It’s important to check with your doctor before administering any medication to your child, as some may interact with it or cause adverse reactions.
Antibiotics do not usually interfere with vaccine ingredients and shouldn't cause a negative reaction in vaccinated children. However, it is recommended to hold off on vaccination until the child recovers fully from their illness before receiving any further doses.
Inform your child's doctor if your child has any pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, genetic blood vessel disorders, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions might be aggravated by Vanifect 50 Oral Suspension and could lead to complications.
