Valtan 40mg Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.
Tablet
Valtan 40mg Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lowering blood pressure helps to prevent future heart attacks and stroke. This medicine is also effective in preserving kidney function in patients with diabetes.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Valtan 40mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Valtan 40mg Tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes the blood vessel by blocking the action of a chemical that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.
It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for a long time. Your doctor may get regular tests done to monitor the level of urea, creatinine, and potassium in your blood. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen along with this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not take Valtan 40mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor.
A noticeable decrease in blood pressure can occur within two weeks of starting Valtan 40mg Tablet. The full effects may appear up to four weeks later.
Several blood pressure-lowering medications are generally considered safe. Treatment options vary based on individual factors, such as age, gender, other health conditions, and personal medical history. For example, individuals below 55 years of age without significant coexisting diseases may be prescribed angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARAs) like Valtan 40mg Tablet, losartan, or olmesartan, or Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors such as ramipril, captopril, or enalapril. A doctor should determine the most appropriate treatment based on a patient's specific needs.
Valtan 40mg Tablet does not generally affect kidney function. However, caution is advised for patients with severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min) or those on dialysis due to limited data regarding its safety in these groups.
Individuals who are allergic to Valtan 40mg Tablet, have severe liver disease, diabetes, or impaired kidney function should avoid taking this medication. It is also important to limit its use if you are already on blood pressure-lowering medications containing aliskiren. Pregnant women and those planning pregnancy should not take Valtan 40mg Tablet.
Valtan 40mg Tablet belongs to the group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARAs). Angiotensin II is a substance in the body that causes vessels to tighten, increasing blood pressure. Valtan 40mg Tablet works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II. This leads to blood vessel relaxation and lower blood pressure.
No, Valtan 40mg Tablet does not cause weight gain as a side effect. However, if your kidney function deteriorates, you may experience water retention (swelling) in your feet, ankles, or hands due to the accumulation of fluid. It is important to consult your doctor if you notice unexplained weight gain or swelling.
Continue taking Valtan 40mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you start feeling better, as this medication does not cure high blood pressure or heart failure but rather helps control them.
Valtan 40mg Tablet can cause harm to the developing fetus during the last trimester of pregnancy. Pregnant women or those planning pregnancy should inform their doctor before starting this medication. If you become pregnant while taking Valtan 40mg Tablet, discontinue its use and consult your doctor immediately.
No, do not change to a different Valtan 40mg Tablet brand unless your doctor advises it. Since Valtan 40mg Tablet needs to be taken daily, maintain a stock of the prescribed medication. Each Valtan 40mg Tablet product releases the medication differently in your body and cannot be used interchangeably.
