Valsartan (80mg)
Valodil 80 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.
Tablet
Valodil 80 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lowering blood pressure helps to prevent future heart attacks and stroke. This medicine is also effective in preserving kidney function in patients with diabetes.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Valodil 80 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Valodil 80 Tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes the blood vessel by blocking the action of a chemical that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.
It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for a long time. Your doctor may get regular tests done to monitor the level of urea, creatinine, and potassium in your blood. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen along with this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not take Valodil 80 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor.
A significant decrease in blood pressure may be experienced within two weeks of starting Valodil 80 Tablet. The medicine may take up to four weeks to show its complete effects.
Many blood pressure-lowering medications can be considered safe. A doctor considers various factors, such as age, gender, pre-existing conditions, when choosing a medication. For example, individuals below 55 years old with no other significant medical conditions may be prescribed angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARAs) (e.g., Valodil 80 Tablet, losartan, olmesartan) or Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors (e.g., ramipril, captopril, or enalapril), by the doctor.
Valodil 80 Tablet generally does not impact healthy kidney function. However, it should be used cautiously in patients with severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance <10 mL/min) and on dialysis due to limited data supporting its safety.
Valodil 80 Tablet should not be given to individuals with allergies to it, severe liver disease, diabetes, or impaired kidney function. It should be used cautiously if co-administered with blood pressure lowering medications containing aliskiren. Pregnant and potentially pregnant women must avoid taking Valodil 80 Tablet.
Valodil 80 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARAs). Angiotensin II is a substance in the body that causes vessels to tighten, leading to increased blood pressure. Valodil 80 Tablet works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II on vessel constriction and thus lowers blood pressure.
No, Valodil 80 Tablet does not cause weight gain as a side effect. However, your body might swell due to fluid retention (water retention) if your kidney function deteriorates and causes this issue.
Continue taking Valodil 80 Tablet as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even when you start feeling better, as it may be needed for the rest of your life to control your high blood pressure or heart failure.
Taking Valodil 80 Tablet during the last months of pregnancy can severely harm or even kill the unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Do not take Valodil 80 Tablet while pregnant.
No, do not switch to a different Valodil 80 Tablet product unless your doctor says that you should. Since you need to take it daily, ensure you always have a sufficient stock of the medication. Each Valodil 80 Tablet product releases the medication differently in your body and cannot be used interchangeably.
