Ursomax 150 Tablet should be swallowed whole after a meal and with a glass of milk or water. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for and your body weight. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ursomax 150 Tablet is to be taken with food.
Ursomax 150 Tablet is a hepatoprotective medication. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood and helps dissolve gallbladder stones that are composed mainly of cholesterol. It also improves liver enzymes, protects liver cells from injury caused due to toxic bile acids, and improves liver function.
Take Ursomax 150 Tablet after a meal with a glass of milk or water Eat a healthy diet Exercise regularly Avoid alcohol intake Drink plenty of fluids and inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you find blood in your stools Do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor
Your doctor may instruct you to take 2-3 doses per day, with the last dose taken at bedtime. It's best to take them with water, milk, and food. If prescribed for dissolving gallstones, one daily dose at night is usually recommended. Ideally, doses should be spaced out by 6 hours (e.g., 8 am, 2 pm, and 8 pm).
Ursomax 150 Tablets are generally considered safe and effective. Common side effects include diarrhea, which may require a dose reduction or discontinuation of treatment. Prolonged use can affect liver enzyme levels; regular monitoring is recommended to prevent this. Despite these minor issues, Ursomax 150 Tablets are often preferred over surgery for certain gallstone patients.
Ursomax 150 Tablet targets the liver, concentrating in bile secreted from it. This reduces cholesterol synthesis and secretion by the liver, decreasing cholesterol levels in bile. The medicine also inhibits intestinal absorption of bile salts and cholesterol, causing reduced cholesterol saturation in bile and gradual dissolution of gallstones. It further protects the liver cells by increasing bile flow.
Weight gain is a possible side effect, although uncommon, especially for patients with liver disease associated with chronic stasis of bile in small bile ducts. Bile cannot flow to the intestine in this condition, leading to potential weight gain.
Avoid using antacids without consulting your doctor as they decrease the effectiveness of Ursomax 150 Tablets. Also, refrain from taking cholestyramine or colestipol, which affect its efficacy. Maintain a time gap between these medicines and Ursomax 150 Tablets. Avoid oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents like clofibrate as they may increase gallstone development and counteract the action of Ursomax 150 Tablet.
