Umox-CV LB Tablet is a prescription medicine. It is advised to take it as per the prescription. It can be taken with or without food but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose as this may have harmful effects on your body.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Umox-CV LB Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Umox-CV LB Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Amoxycillin, Clavulanic Acid and Lactobacillus. Amoxycillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Amoxycillin against bacteria. This treats your infection but may upset your digestive system by killing healthy gut bacteria as well. Lactobacillus is added to restore the balance of healthy bacteria.
Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach. Finish the prescribed course even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Umox-CV LB Tablet may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Umox-CV LB Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
Umox-CV LB Tablet is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction associated with the medication.
Umox-CV LB Tablet can be taken every 8 hours or every 12 hours, depending on the prescribed dosage by your doctor. It should be taken with a meal or snack to minimize the possibility of experiencing an upset stomach. Some antibiotics can cause diarrhea. If you experience severe or persistent diarrhea for more than 2 or 3 days, consult your doctor.
No, complete the entire course of treatment even if you feel better. It is common to feel better early on in antibiotic therapy. However, skipping doses or not completing the full course can reduce the medication's effectiveness and may encourage bacteria resistance.
If you have a history of an allergic reaction to one type of penicillin, there is a risk of cross-sensitivity with ampicillin or some cephalosporins. However, it's not guaranteed. Make sure to inform your doctor about any penicillin allergies.
