Ulticobal 500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient necessary for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It plays a role in energy release from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
You can obtain vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. People who follow vegetarian or vegan diets may lack Vitamin B12 as it is not naturally found in foods like fruits, vegetables, or grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is commonly seen in vegetarians or vegans.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in red blood cells). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Ulticobal 500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects may occur, such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash. If you experience a rash, stop taking the medication immediately.
Ulticobal 500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Ulticobal 500mcg Injection), and it is given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Ulticobal 500mcg Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it in a different location.
