How it works
Ulticlav Kid Tablet is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be taken at the same time as Ulticlav Kid Tablet?
Ulticlav Kid Tablet may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting your child's treatment, it is crucial to inform their doctor about any other medications they are taking. Additionally, please consult your child's healthcare provider before giving any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on Ulticlav Kid Tablet treatment?
Antibiotics generally don't interfere with the components of vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccination. However, it is advisable to hold off on vaccinating your child until their illness has been resolved after taking antibiotics. Once your child shows signs of improvement, their doctor can administer a vaccine.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Ulticlav Kid Tablet long-term?
During prolonged therapy, the doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess your child's condition.
Can I give a higher dose of Ulticlav Kid Tablet to my child than recommended?
No, exceeding the recommended dosage can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences heightened symptom severity, please contact their doctor for a re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Ulticlav Kid Tablet to my child once symptoms improve?
No, you should not discontinue medication without finishing the entire course, even if your child feels better. It's crucial to continue administering this medicine for its prescribed duration as it might still provide benefits.
Can Ulticlav Kid Tablet cause diarrhea in my child?
Yes, Ulticlav Kid Tablet can potentially lead to diarrhea. This is due to the antibiotic's function of killing harmful bacteria. Additionally, it may disrupt the balance of beneficial bacteria in your child's gut, leading to diarrhea. In such cases, encourage them to drink adequate fluids and consult their doctor if diarrhea persists, with potential signs of dehydration including reduced urination frequency, dark-colored and strong-smelling urine.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most commonly, bacterial infections do not develop alongside viral infections. In fact, administering antibiotics during a viral infection can increase your child's risk of experiencing side effects. Therefore, it is important to use antibiotics only after consulting with their doctor.
Is there any sign indicating my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical help from a doctor if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects require expert assessment.
