Udimax 300mg Tablet affects the liver and concentrates in the bile secreted by it. This process suppresses the production and secretion of cholesterol by the liver, reducing cholesterol levels in bile. Furthermore, the medicine blocks the intestines from absorbing bile salts and cholesterol, leading to a gradual dissolving of cholesterol from gallstones, resulting in their reduction and eventual dissolution. It also reduces elevated liver enzyme levels by increasing bile flow through the liver, protecting the liver cells.
While using Udimax 300mg Tablet can potentially lead to weight gain, it's not a common side effect. This possibility is more likely in patients with liver disease associated with chronic bile duct stasis. In such cases, bile cannot flow from the liver to the small intestine leading to possible weight gain. The extent of weight gain varies amongst individuals and their overall health conditions, so consult your doctor if you experience this side effect.
Do not take antacids without consulting your doctor as these can reduce the effectiveness of Udimax 300mg Tablet. Additionally, avoid medicines such as cholestyramine or colestipol as they negatively impact the effectiveness of this medication. Discuss with your doctor about appropriate time intervals between Udimax 300mg Tablet and these medications. Avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogen-containing medications, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents like clofibrate, as these may increase the risk of developing gallstones and counteract the effects of Udimax 300mg Tablet.
