Additionally, long-term use of this medication could potentially impact liver enzyme levels. To monitor for potential liver issues, your doctor will regularly check your liver enzyme levels.
Udifast 150mg Tablet affects the liver by concentrating in bile secreted from the liver. This leads to decreased cholesterol synthesis and secretion by the liver, thereby lowering cholesterol levels in bile. The medication also acts by preventing the intestines from absorbing bile salts and cholesterol. This reduction in cholesterol saturation in the bile helps dissolve cholesterol gallstones, leading to their decrease in size and eventual dissolution. Additionally, it protects liver cells by increasing bile flow through the liver.
Weight gain is possible with Udifast 150mg Tablet, although it's not common. However, it can lead to weight gain in patients with liver disease associated with chronic bile stasis in the small bile ducts of the liver. In such cases, bile cannot flow from the liver to the intestines. The likelihood of experiencing weight gain varies significantly among individuals based on their individual health conditions, so consult your doctor if you notice weight gain.
While taking Udifast 150mg Tablet, avoid taking antacids without consulting your doctor as they can decrease the medication's effectiveness. Additionally, it's advisable to avoid medications like cholestyramine or colestipol as they negatively affect Udifast 150mg Tablet efficacy. Discuss the appropriate time gap between these medicines and your doctor.
