Udi Nec 300mg Tablet is a hepatoprotective medication. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood and helps dissolve gallbladder stones that are composed mainly of cholesterol. It also improves liver enzymes, protects liver cells from injury caused due to toxic bile acids, and improves liver function.

The optimal timing of taking this medication may vary based on your individual condition. Your doctor may prescribe two to three doses per day and advise taking the final dose at bedtime. It can be taken with water, milk, or food. For gallstone treatment, it is generally taken once daily in the evening.
Udi Nec 300mg Tablet is generally considered a safe and effective medication. However, some common side effects may occur, such as diarrhea. If you experience diarrhea, your doctor may reduce the dose or discontinue treatment if needed. Furthermore, long-term use of this medicine might affect liver enzyme levels. Your doctor will regularly monitor these levels to ensure safety. Despite potential side effects, this medication offers a viable alternative to surgery in some patients with gallstones.
Udi Nec 300mg Tablet acts on the liver by concentrating in bile secreted from it. This consequently reduces cholesterol synthesis and secretion by the liver, lowering cholesterol levels in bile. The medicine also inhibits cholesterol absorption from the intestines by the bile salts. Consequently, reduced cholesterol saturation in bile leads to the gradual dissolution of gallstones, decreasing their size until complete dissolution. Additionally, the medicine improves bile flow through the liver, leading to decreased liver enzyme levels and protection of liver cells.
Weight gain is a possible side effect of Udi Nec 300mg Tablet, though it isn't frequent. Weight gain occurs in patients with liver disease linked to chronic bile stasis (in small bile ducts of the liver). This leads to bile flow stagnation between the liver and the small intestine. Consequently, weight gain varies from person to person depending on their condition. Consult your doctor if you experience weight gain.
When taking Udi Nec 300mg Tablet, it's best to consult your doctor before using antacid preparations as they can decrease the medication's effectiveness. Avoid cholestyramine or colestipol medications, which could also affect the treatment's effectiveness. Consult your doctor about necessary time gaps between these medications and Udi Nec 300mg Tablet. It is advised to avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, blood cholesterol-lowering agents like clofibrate as they may increase gallstone development and counteract Udi Nec 300mg Tablet's effects.
