Frequently asked questions
What is Ucob 1500mcg Injection?
Ucob 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient required by the body for red blood cell production and a healthy nervous system. It plays a role in energy release from food and utilization of vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is obtained from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, individuals who follow vegetarian or vegan diets may experience difficulty obtaining adequate vitamin B12 due to its absence in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Consequently, a deficiency of vitamin B12 is more commonly observed in vegetarians and vegans.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to several symptoms like fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in the size of red blood cells). It may also cause nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include difficulties with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Ucob 1500mcg Injection safe?
Ucob 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If a rash develops, discontinue use of the medication immediately.
How should Ucob 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Ucob 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Ucob 1500mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, the dosage should be adjusted to one ampoule (0.5 mg of Ucob 1500mcg Injection) once every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Ucob 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid repeating injections at the same site each time. If intense pain occurs during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
