Introduction
Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup?
Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. It is crucial to inform your child's doctor about all other medicines your child is currently taking before starting Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup. Consulting your child's healthcare professional before administering any medication to your child is always recommended.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup?
While antibiotics typically don't interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated, it is generally recommended to hold off on administering vaccines until your child recovers from the underlying illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given after consulting their doctor.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, to monitor the child's condition over prolonged therapy, your child's doctor might order kidney and liver function tests.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup to my child?
No, exceeding the recommended dose of this medicine could increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsened symptoms, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless the full course of treatment is completed, even if you feel better. The symptoms may improve before the infection is completely eradicated. Therefore, continue taking the medicine as prescribed by your child's doctor.
Can the use of Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Tymocil-CV Forte Dry Syrup may lead to diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria and might also affect beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. In case of diarrhea, encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids. If the diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration like reduced urination (dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), seek medical advice from a healthcare professional. Do not administer any medication without consulting a doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Viral infections typically don't cause bacterial infections, and it is best to avoid using antibiotics in such cases. If your child has symptoms of a bacterial infection, always consult their doctor for appropriate treatment.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is this a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics. During a common cold, mucus typically thickens and changes color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
You should immediately contact your child's doctor if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Although these are rare side effects, they require expert medical attention.
