Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This treats your eye infection.
Your doctor has prescribed Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel may cause damage to cornea on long-term use. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution. Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer. Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel may cause damage to cornea on long-term use. Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that can kill a wide range of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and epidermidis, some species of Streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Morganella morganii, most Proteus vulgaris strains, Haemophilus influenza, and H. aegyptius, Moraxella lacunata, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, and some Neisseria species. However, the suitability of this medication for your specific condition should be determined by your doctor.
The duration of treatment with Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel is typically determined by your doctor and can vary depending on the severity of your eye infection. For mild to moderate infections, you may be advised to use 1-2 drops, four times a day, while for more severe cases, your doctor may recommend using 2 drops every hour. It's essential to follow your doctor's instructions carefully and not exceed or reduce the prescribed dosage.
To use Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel correctly, wash your hands before handling the eye drops. Avoid touching the dropper tip against your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. Instill one drop into the affected eye by tilting your head slightly and gently pressing your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute after use. If using multiple drops, wait at least 5 minutes between them, and avoid using other eye drops until at least 10 minutes have passed.
If you experience worsening symptoms or do not see improvement in your condition after finishing the prescribed treatment, it's essential to consult with your doctor. They can reassess your situation and provide guidance on further action.
No, it is not advisable to discontinue the use of Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel without consulting your doctor, even if you're feeling better. Your symptoms may have improved before the infection has been fully cleared, and stopping treatment prematurely can lead to incomplete healing.
