Frequently asked questions
What is Trinergic 500mcg Injection?
Trinergic 500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient needed for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is typically found in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may face difficulty getting enough vitamin B12 as it isn't naturally present in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, vegetarians or vegans are often at risk for a deficiency of Vitamin B12.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other potential symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, memory impairment, mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Trinergic 500mcg Injection safe?
Trinergic 500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or a rash. Discontinue using the injection immediately if you encounter any signs of a rash.
How should Trinergic 500mcg Injection be given?
Trinergic 500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Trinergic 500mcg Injection), administered three times a week. After two months, use 1 ampoule (0.5mg) every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Trinergic 500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain or blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
