Introduction
Torkind CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Torkind CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give Torkind CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Torkind CV Dry Syrup to your child. Frequently asked questions
Can other medications be given simultaneously with Torkind CV Dry Syrup?
Torkind CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Torkind CV Dry Syrup, inform your child's doctor about all other medicines they are taking. Consult your child’s healthcare professional before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Torkind CV Dry Syrup?
In general, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children after vaccination. However, children should avoid receiving vaccinations until they recover from any illness that requires antibiotic therapy. After recovery, consult your child’s healthcare professional to determine if vaccination is possible.
What laboratory tests may I perform on my child for long-term treatment of Torkind CV Dry Syrup?
Periodically, the doctor may order kidney and liver function tests during prolonged treatment with Torkind CV Dry Syrup to monitor your child’s condition.
Can I give a higher than recommended dose of Torkind CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher dose of this medication than the prescribed amount can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Torkind CV Dry Syrup to my child once they feel better?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless the full course of treatment is complete. Even if your child feels better, the symptoms may improve before the infection is fully eradicated. Therefore, continue taking the medication for the prescribed duration as it might still provide benefits.
Can Torkind CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Torkind CV Dry Syrup can potentially cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria and may also affect the beneficial bacteria in your child’s stomach and lead to diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink plenty of water or other fluids. If the diarrhea persists, contact a medical professional for guidance as it could indicate dehydration. Do not administer any additional medication without consulting a healthcare professional.
Does using Torkind CV Dry Syrup always lead to bacterial infection?
Most common colds do not usually develop into secondary bacterial infections. Antibiotic use in viral infections can increase the risk of side effects and should only be prescribed by a healthcare professional after consultation.
Is there a sign indicating my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), seek immediate medical help. These are serious side effects and require the expertise of a healthcare professional.
