Toplep 50mg Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures. Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you. Practice yoga every day. Get enough sleep at nighttime. Limit the use of screen time such as mobile/laptop. Take your medication on time. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking Toplep 50mg Tablet. This can reduce the risk of kidney stones. Monitor your weight during treatment with this medicine as it can cause weight gain. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.
The length of treatment with Toplep 50mg Tablet depends on your doctor's guidance and individual response to the medication. It is important to note that Toplep 50mg Tablet does not cure seizures or migraines, but it helps prevent them from occurring. Therefore, you may need to continue taking it for months or years depending on your symptoms, improvement, and any side effects experienced.
Toplep 50mg Tablet is not prescribed for the treatment of anxiety. Consult your doctor before taking this medication.
Serious side effects of Toplep 50mg Tablet are rare but may include: glaucoma (difficulty seeing, eye pain, and blurred vision), kidney stones (sharp pain in your sides or lower back), metabolic acidosis (tiredness, loss of appetite, irregular and faint heartbeat). Other serious side effects might be suicidal thoughts, and insufficient sweating (some children taking Toplep 50mg Tablet may not sweat enough in hot weather, leading to a rise in body temperature).
Toplep 50mg Tablet does not interfere with the action of valproic acid. However, it may increase the risk of hyperammonemia (a condition where there's too much ammonia in your blood), which can be dangerous and potentially cause problems with thinking, memory, problem-solving abilities, alertness, and energy levels. Seek immediate medical advice if you notice these symptoms. It's important to note that Toplep 50mg Tablet itself can sometimes cause hyperammonemia.
Toplep 50mg Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of seizures in children over two years old. However, it's not recommended for treating migraines in children.
Weight loss could be a side effect of Toplep 50mg Tablet as it may lead to decreased appetite. It is advisable to discuss any concerns about weight changes with your doctor for proper guidance and assessment.
