Tixocen-M 0.5mg/10mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines used in the treatment of schizophrenia, a mental disorder that can result in hallucinations or delusions.

Introduction

Tixocen-M 0.5mg/10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.

Side Effects

Common side effects of this medicine include dry mouth, vomiting, stomach upset, delayed ejaculation, sedation, urinary retention, low sexual desire, muscle rigidity, restlessness, and tremors.

Alcohol Warning

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make drowsiness worse.

Tixocen-M 0.5mg/10mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Flupenthixol and Escitalopram Oxalate which have anxiety-lowering and mood-elevating effects. Flupenthixol is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. Escitalopram Oxalate is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which increases the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger that improves mood.

Take Tixocen-M 0.5mg/10mg Tablet is used for the treatment of schizophrenia. It is better to take it at night as this medicine may produce drowsiness or sleepiness. Try to keep your regular appointments with your doctor. This is so your doctor can check on your progress. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have experienced fits (convulsions) either recently or in the past. Inform your doctor if you have severe heart, liver, Parkinson's disease, or diabetes before starting your treatment.
