Ticstop Tablet is used to treat chorea (a movement disorder characterized by involuntary, jerky movements) associated with Huntington's disease.
Tablet
Ticstop Tablet should be taken with or without food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms. However, discontinue this medicine immediately if you experience neuroleptic malignant syndrome, characterized by fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness or seizures.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ticstop Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

You have been prescribed Ticstop Tablet to help control movement disorders such as in Huntington’s disease. Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Ticstop Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms such as high fever, sweating, muscle stiffness, and faster breathing. These may be due to a rare side effect known as the neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts or behavior. Do not stop taking Ticstop Tablet without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
To ensure proper absorption and effectiveness, it is recommended to swallow Ticstop Tablet whole without crushing, cutting, or chewing. If you are unable to swallow the tablet whole, consult your doctor for guidance on alternative options.
Ticstop Tablet is a vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitor medication. It works by modifying the activity of certain natural substances in the brain that influence muscle and nerve function.
Patients with Huntington’s disease may be at an increased risk for depression or suicidal thoughts while taking Ticstop Tablet. Therefore, individuals with this condition should not take Ticstop Tablet if they also have depression.
Sleepiness is a common side effect of Ticstop Tablet. To minimize this risk, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when feeling sleepy.
To avoid potential complications, do not suddenly discontinue Ticstop Tablet without consulting your doctor. Gradual dose reduction under medical guidance is recommended to prevent neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking Ticstop Tablet as it may exacerbate sleepiness and interact with other medications that cause drowsiness.
Ticstop Tablet can lower blood pressure in some patients, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting. To mitigate this effect, rise slowly from lying down and rest your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing up.
