Introduction
Thiotar ointment is a topical medication containing Salicylic acid and Coal tar, which work together to provide antipruritic and fungicidal effects. It is used to treat chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis and fungal infections, reducing inflammation, itching, and scaling. The ointment is applied once a day and should be used under medical supervision.
Directions for Use
Apply gently on the affected area, once a day. After disappearance of the causative fungi, the skin may appear depigmented, but normal skin color will be restored after a few days.
How it works
Thiotar ointment contains Salicylic acid, which has fungicidal action, keratolytic properties, and exfoliates the skin. Coal tar, an anti-inflammatory, reduces psoriasis-induced inflammation, itching, and scaling.
