Thiosta-AP Tablet is a combination of a muscle relaxant (Thiocolchicoside) and two pain relievers (Aceclofenac and Paracetamol). The muscle relaxant works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and improve movement of muscles. The pain relievers work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
You have been prescribed Thiosta-AP Tablet to relieve pain due to muscle spasm. This medicine is most effective when taken along with proper rest and physical therapy. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Thiosta-AP Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Older adults may have increased drowsiness, confusion, and higher risk of falling as a result of taking Thiosta-AP Tablet. Do not take it with any other medicine containing acetaminophen (drugs for pain/fever or cough-and-cold) without asking your doctor first.
Thiosta-AP Tablet is usually taken for short periods and can be discontinued when pain relief is achieved. However, Thiosta-AP Tablet must continue as advised by the doctor.
Thiosta-AP Tablet is contraindicated for patients with known allergies to painkillers or any component or excipient. It should also be avoided in individuals with a history of stomach ulcers, active or recurrent stomach ulcer/bleeding, heart failure, high blood pressure, or liver or kidney disease.
Yes, Thiosta-AP Tablet can be taken concurrently with vitamin B-complex preparations. While Thiosta-AP Tablet provides pain relief, vitamin B-complex may address any vitamin deficiency contributing to the symptoms.
Long-term use of Thiosta-AP Tablet can potentially lead to kidney damage. This is because it lowers prostaglandins, chemicals naturally produced by the body that protect kidneys, leading to increased risk on long-term use. Individuals with pre-existing kidney conditions should avoid its use.
Taking higher doses of this medicine will not enhance its effectiveness and may even lead to increased side effects. If symptoms worsen, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Thiosta-AP Tablet contains Paracetamol. Paracetamol can be harmful to the liver, especially in doses exceeding recommended levels. Additionally, avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication as it may exacerbate liver risks. Individuals with pre-existing liver disease should avoid its use and seek immediate medical attention if signs of liver damage appear: fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, yellowing of skin or eyes, and abnormal liver enzymes.
