Frequently asked questions
Can Terlox 250 Tablet be safe for use in patients with liver cirrhosis?
Oral administration of Terlox 250 Tablet is not recommended in patients with chronic or active liver disease. Your doctor may prescribe a liver function test to assess the liver's functional capacity before initiating treatment. This is done because the medication is metabolized by liver enzymes, and impaired liver function can lead to increased drug levels in the blood, potentially resulting in amplified side effects and toxicity. Therefore, it is crucial to inform your physician about any pre-existing liver conditions or cirrhosis. Additionally, be sure to disclose any medications you are currently taking as interaction with other drugs could contribute to liver toxicity, while Terlox 250 Tablet's action on liver enzymes can alter the levels of other medications. Your doctor may recommend periodic monitoring (after 4-6 weeks of treatment) of liver function tests and make dosage adjustments accordingly.
Does Terlox 250 Tablet cause any skin reactions?
Yes, some individuals may experience skin reactions while using Terlox 250 Tablet. There have been rare reports of serious skin/hypersensitivity reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and other severe skin reactions associated with Terlox 250 Tablet. Therefore, it is crucial to consult your physician before initiating this medication. If you experience any type of skin reaction or rash, immediately discontinue use and notify your doctor.
Is Terlox 250 Tablet effective?
Terlox 250 Tablet is an effective antifungal medication when administered as prescribed by your physician. Do not stop taking this medication even if you observe improvement in your condition, as stopping early could allow the fungus to continue growing and potentially lead to a recurrence or worsening of the infection.
How long do I need to take Terlox 250 Tablet?
The typical duration for treatment with Terlox 250 Tablet for conditions like tinea pedis (foot), tinea corporis (ringworm), and tinea cruris (groin fungal infections) is typically around 2 to 4 weeks. However, the treatment duration may sometimes extend up to 6 weeks. For nail fungal infections, it usually varies from 6 to 12 weeks. Specifically, for fingernail fungal infections, the treatment period can last up to 6 weeks. Toenail fungal infections, on the other hand, might require treatment lasting 12 weeks. The specific duration of therapy is determined by your doctor based on factors such as the type of infection, the location of the infection, and the patient's response to the treatment.
Can I drink tea or coffee while taking Terlox 250 Tablet?
It is recommended to exercise caution when consuming caffeinated drinks such as tea and coffee while on Terlox 250 Tablet. This medication can decrease the rate of caffeine metabolism by approximately 19%, which may result in increased levels of caffeine in the blood. This increase could lead to side effects like jitteriness, headaches, an accelerated heartbeat, or feelings of restlessness.
