Terbact Tablet is an antifungal medication. It kills and stops the growth of the fungi by destroying its cell membrane, thereby treating your skin infection.
Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Treatment may be needed for 2 to 6 weeks for skin infections and 6 weeks to 6 months for nail infections. Your doctor may monitor your liver function regularly during treatment. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
While generally safe for most patients, some individuals might experience allergic skin reactions while using Terbact Tablet. There have been rare reported cases of severe hypersensitivity reactions including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and other life-threatening skin reactions. Therefore, consult your physician before starting Terbact Tablet therapy. In case you notice any signs of a rash or skin reaction on the body, discontinue use immediately and inform your doctor.
Oral administration of Terbact Tablet is not recommended for patients with chronic or active liver disease. It is crucial to have a pre-treatment evaluation that includes a liver function test to assess the health of your liver before taking this medication, as it's metabolized by liver enzymes. Inefficient liver function can lead to elevated levels of the drug in the blood, potentially increasing side effects and toxicity. Therefore, inform your doctor about any pre-existing liver conditions or if you are currently on other medications that may interact with Terbact Tablet.
Terbact Tablet is an effective antifungal medication when used as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking the medication even if you experience improvement in symptoms, as stopping prematurely may allow the fungus to continue growing and potentially lead to infection recurrence or worsen it.
Treatment duration for various types of fungal infections varies depending on their severity. For example, Tinea pedis (foot) often requires treatment for 2 to 4 weeks, with potential extension to 6 weeks in specific cases. Tinea corporis (ringworm), Tinea cruris (jock itch), and nail fungal infections generally require 6 to 12 weeks of treatment. It's important to discuss the exact duration with your doctor based on the type of infection, its location, and your individual response to therapy.
Consumption of caffeinated beverages like tea and coffee should be carefully considered when taking Terbact Tablet. The medication reduces caffeine metabolism by 19%, leading to increased caffeine levels in your blood, which can potentially cause side effects such as jitteriness, headache, an increase in heart rate, and restlessness.
