Frequently asked questions
What is Tacvido Forte Ointment used for?
Tacvido Forte Ointment is a medicine that modifies the immune system. It works by decreasing the activity of the immune system, and is used to treat moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults who do not respond to steroids or experience side effects from using them. In atopic dermatitis, the skin's immune system undergoes an overreaction, leading to skin inflammation which causes itchiness, redness, and dryness. Tacvido Forte Ointment acts on the abnormal immune response and alters it, thereby relieving skin inflammation and itchiness.
What are the side effects of Tacvido Forte Ointment?
Tacvido Forte Ointment, when applied to the skin, may cause skin irritation, burning sensation, and itching at the site of application. These usually have mild to moderate severity and usually resolve within one week of starting treatment. Redness is also common, along with sensations of warmth, pain, altered sensation, and rash at the site of application. Using Tacvido Forte Ointment increases the patient's risk of inflamed or infected hair follicles, cold sores, acne, and generalized herpes simplex infections.
Is Tacvido Forte Ointment safe?
Tacvido Forte Ointment, compared to other immune-suppressing medicines, has been found to be a safe and effective short-term treatment for atopic dermatitis. When applied to the affected skin area, its absorption into the bloodstream is minimal. This means that side effects are less severe than those experienced when taken orally.
Does Tacvido Forte Ointment have abuse potential?
No, Tacvido Forte Ointment does not have abuse potential and therefore is not a controlled substance. Controlled substances have the potential for abuse, so they need permission from authorities and a doctor before use.
Does Tacvido Forte Ointment cause cancer?
Long-term use of Tacvido Forte Ointment has been linked to an increased risk of lymph node tumors called lymphoma. Some studies have shown that some patients who used Tacvido Forte Ointment ointment or a similar medication developed skin cancer or lymphoma. If you have to use Tacvido Forte Ointment for more than 6 weeks, or if your eczema symptoms haven't improved, or are getting worse over time during treatment. Talk to your doctor.
Is Tacvido Forte Ointment a steroid?
No, Tacvido Forte Ointment is not a steroid. It is a medicine that modifies the immune system activity. It is used in the treatment of eczema, most commonly atopic dermatitis. One advantage of Tacvido Forte Ointment is that it does not cause skin thinning (atrophy) or other steroid-related side effects.
