Frequently asked questions
What is Tacrovera Forte Ointment used for?
Tacrovera Forte Ointment is a medication that regulates the immune system. It works by decreasing the activity of the immune system and is used to treat moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults who do not respond to corticosteroids or experience side effects from them. In atopic dermatitis, the skin's immune system reacts abnormally and causes skin inflammation leading to itching, redness, and dryness. Tacrovera Forte Ointment targets this abnormal immune response and alters it, thereby relieving skin inflammation and itchiness.
What are the possible side effects of Tacrovera Forte Ointment?
Tacrovera Forte Ointment, when applied to the skin, may cause skin irritation, burning sensation, and itching at the site of application. These side effects are typically mild to moderate in severity and usually resolve within a week of starting treatment. Redness is also common along with sensations like warmth, pain, altered sensation, and rash at the site of application. Using Tacrovera Forte Ointment increases the patient's risk of inflamed or infected hair follicles, cold sores, acne, and generalized herpes simplex infections.
Is Tacrovera Forte Ointment safe?
Compared to other immune-suppressing medications, Tacrovera Forte Ointment has been found to be a safe and effective short-term treatment for atopic dermatitis. Its absorption into the bloodstream is minimal when applied directly to the skin. This results in fewer side effects compared to oral administration.
Does Tacrovera Forte Ointment have abuse potential?
No, Tacrovera Forte Ointment does not have abuse potential and therefore it is not a controlled substance. Controlled substances are subject to abuse, so they require permission from authorities and a doctor's prescription for use.
Does Tacrovera Forte Ointment cause cancer?
Long-term use of Tacrovera Forte Ointment has been associated with an increased risk of lymph node tumors called lymphoma. Some studies have linked its use to skin cancer or lymphoma development in certain patients. It's important to consult your doctor if you must use Tacrovera Forte Ointment for longer than 6 weeks or if your eczema symptoms do not improve or are worsening during treatment.
Is Tacrovera Forte Ointment a steroid?
No, Tacrovera Forte Ointment is not a steroid. It's a medication that modulates the immune system's activity. It is used in the treatment of eczema, most commonly atopic dermatitis. A significant advantage of Tacrovera Forte Ointment is its lack of skin thinning (atrophy) or other side effects associated with steroids.
