Frequently asked questions
What is Tacoryza Ointment used for?
Tacoryza Ointment is a prescription medication that helps modulate the immune system. It works by reducing the activity of the immune system, making it helpful in treating moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults who have not responded well or developed side effects from using steroids. In atopic dermatitis, the skin's immune system overreacts and causes inflammation, leading to itchiness, redness, and dryness on the affected areas. Tacoryza Ointment targets this abnormal immune response and alters it, which helps relieve the skin inflammation and itching.
What are the side effects of Tacoryza Ointment?
Tacoryza Ointment, when applied to the skin, can cause mild to moderate irritation like redness, burning sensation, itching at the site of application. These reactions usually resolve within a week of starting treatment. Other common side effects include warmth sensations and altered skin sensitivity, along with potential rashes. Using Tacoryza Ointment may increase the risk of inflamed or infected hair follicles, cold sores, acne, or generalized herpes simplex infections.
Is Tacoryza Ointment safe?
Tacoryza Ointment has been found to be a safe and effective short-term treatment for atopic dermatitis compared to other immune-suppressing medications. It is quickly absorbed through the skin with minimal blood concentration, resulting in lower side effects when compared to oral administration of similar medications.
Does Tacoryza Ointment have abuse potential?
No, Tacoryza Ointment does not have abuse potential and is not a controlled substance. Controlled substances have potential for abuse and require authorization from authorities and healthcare providers before use.
Does Tacoryza Ointment cause cancer?
Long-term use of Tacoryza Ointment has been linked to an increased risk of developing lymph node tumors, specifically lymphoma. Some studies have shown a correlation between using Tacoryza Ointment ointment or similar medications and skin cancers or lymphoma development in some patients. Consult your doctor if you are using Tacoryza Ointment for more than 6 weeks or if your eczema symptoms do not improve despite treatment.
Is Tacoryza Ointment a steroid?
No, Tacoryza Ointment is not a steroid. It is a medication that modifies the immune system's activity and works as an alternative for managing eczema symptoms, particularly in atopic dermatitis. Its advantage is its ability to prevent skin thinning (atrophy) or other side effects associated with steroids.
