Frequently asked questions
What is Tacbest Forte Ointment used for?
Tacbest Forte Ointment is a medicine designed to modulate the immune system. It works by reducing the activity of the immune system and is used to treat moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults who have not responded to or experienced side effects from using corticosteroids. In atopic dermatitis, the skin's immune system overreacts, causing skin inflammation that leads to itching, redness, and dryness. Tacbest Forte Ointment acts on this abnormal immune response, altering it and relieving skin inflammation and itchiness.
What are the side effects of Tacbest Forte Ointment?
Tacbest Forte Ointment applied to the skin may cause skin irritation, burning sensation, and itching at the site of application. These side effects usually are mild to moderate in severity and resolve within one week of starting treatment. Redness is also common along with sensations of warmth, pain, altered sensation, and rash at the site of application. The use of Tacbest Forte Ointment increases the patient's risk of inflamed or infected hair follicles, cold sores, acne, and generalized herpes simplex infections.
Is Tacbest Forte Ointment safe?
Compared to other immune-suppressing medications, Tacbest Forte Ointment has been found to be a safe and effective short-term treatment for atopic dermatitis. It minimizes absorption of the medicine into the bloodstream and body when applied on affected skin, resulting in fewer side effects compared to oral administration.
Does Tacbest Forte Ointment have abuse potential?
No, Tacbest Forte Ointment does not have abuse potential and is therefore not a controlled substance. Controlled substances have the potential for abuse and require permission from authorities and a doctor to use.
Does Tacbest Forte Ointment cause cancer?
Long-term use of Tacbest Forte Ointment has been linked to an increased risk of lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. Some studies have found that individuals who used Tacbest Forte Ointment or similar medications developed skin cancer or lymphoma. Consult your doctor if you need to use Tacbest Forte Ointment for more than six weeks or if your eczema symptoms haven't improved or are worsening with treatment during your therapy.
Is Tacbest Forte Ointment a steroid?
No, Tacbest Forte Ointment is not a steroid. It is a medicine designed to modulate the immune system and is used in the treatment of eczema, primarily atopic dermatitis. An advantage of Tacbest Forte Ointment is that it does not cause skin thinning (atrophy) or other steroid-related side effects.
