Key Information

Short Description

Supirocin-B Plus Ointment is a combination medicine used in the treatment of bacterial skin infections.

Dosage Form

Ointment

Introduction

Supirocin-B Plus Ointment is meant for external use only. It should be applied only to the affected area of the skin as per the dosage and schedule prescribed by your doctor. In order to get the most benefit, apply it regularly and preferably at the same time each day. Do not use larger amounts or apply it more often or for a longer duration than directed. This will only increase the risk of side effects. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the medicine in these areas. The most common side effects of this medicine include application site reactions like burning, irritation, itching, and redness. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. It is not likely that other medicines you take by mouth or injection will affect the way this medicine works, but talk to your doctor before using it if you have recently used another medicine for the infection. The medicine is not recommended for pregnant women. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine.

Directions for Use

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

How it works

Supirocin-B Plus Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Mupirocin and Beclometasone which treat skin infections. Mupirocin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria on the skin by destroying the bacterial cell membrane. Beclometasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy.

Quick Tips

Supirocin-B Plus Ointment must be applied to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Before each application, wash the affected area with soap and water and dry well. Avoid getting it in the eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas. Stop using Supirocin-B Plus Ointment and inform your doctor if you notice any irritation or any other skin infection. Inform your doctor if the treated skin area does not improve after 2-4 weeks of treatment.
