Introduction
Stilmox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Stilmox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Stilmox CV Dry Syrup?
Stilmox CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting treatment with Stilmox CV Dry Syrup. Consulting your doctor before administering any medication to your child is crucial.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Stilmox CV Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccination. However, it is advisable to avoid administering any medication to your child before their illness resolves unless advised by your doctor. Once they are feeling better after the infection, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Stilmox CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, a doctor might recommend kidney and liver function tests during extended therapy with this medication to monitor your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Stilmox CV Dry Syrup to my child?
It is strongly advised against giving a dosage greater than that prescribed for your child. Over-dosing can significantly increase the risks associated with side effects. If you notice your child experiencing increased symptom severity, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Stilmox CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not cease administering this medication to your child without completing the full course. Even if you feel a reduction in symptoms, there might still be active treatment effects. Continuing the prescribed dosage may prevent the potential for residual benefit from the medicine.
Can the use of Stilmox CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, antibiotic medication can induce diarrhea. This is because antibiotics often eliminate both harmful and helpful bacteria in the gut. In addition, the effect on beneficial bacteria may also lead to diarrhea. To manage this, encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids. If diarrhea persists, consult your doctor to assess for dehydration (such as reduced urine frequency with dark, strong-smelling urine). Never administer any medication to your child without a doctor's guidance.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most common cold infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. However, it is vital to remember that certain types of bacteria can thrive in the weakened immune system that often arises with a viral infection, leading to an increased risk of developing these secondary infections. In such cases, consult your doctor for appropriate antibiotic treatment.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection. During a common cold, mucus naturally thickens and changes color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms typically last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
In case of serious allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), you should immediately contact your doctor. Though rare, these are potential side effects that require professional intervention.
